In an authentic Polynesian atmosphere, comfortable facilities welcome you.
Fafarua Lodge - the House
À Fafarua Private Islandtime doesn't count, and guests are king.
If you decide to rent the island, you'll of course enjoy a comfortable Polynesian house, just like the ones you'll still find in Tahiti or its islands, in French Polynesia. This villa offers all the comforts of a modern home with the charm of typical Tuamotu island houses.
Guest facilities include a house with bathroom and sanitary facilities, and a Fare potee (outdoor lounge).
Although 35 minutes by boat from the first village, you'll have running water (hot and cold water), electricity, fans, a cell phone network and free internet access (approx. 30Mb/s downstream, 20Mb/s upstream).
The exteriors
The "Fare potee" (Tahitian for "outdoor living room"), a covered area a few meters from the kitchen, is made of a wooden structure with a green roof, and is equipped with a grilling area. Set up as a reception room, it's a convivial place where people like to get together.
A few meters from the first two bedrooms is one of the two bathrooms. It features a shower and washbasin in a semi-covered area overlooking a natural, open-air garden. Nearby are two toilets with washbasins and a covered area for a clothesline. A second bathroom, also semi-covered, adjoins one of the three bedrooms.
All these facilities were built by the owners over the last few decades for their personal use, according to local standards adapted to life in the Tuamotus. Renovation work and upgrading to modern hotel standards have been carried out, and now make it possible to offer you a tropical, comfortable and modern habitat.
Away from the beach and the house, inside the "motu", a small dwelling houses the staff, who provide a constant presence. The family's dogs are also present on the island. Companion animals, very sociable and welcoming, they participate in the life of the motu and warn you as soon as a boat approaches the private island.
Interiors
The villa, built in typical Tuamotu style with a wood and plywood structure and a tin roof, has several levels. It comprises three single bedrooms. One bedroom, on the upper floor, is equipped with a double bed. The other two have one double and one single bed each. The rooms are simple and colorful, well-ventilated with natural cross-ventilation, and equipped with mosquito nets, fans and storage cupboards.
An office, library and storage area is located on the same intermediary.
The living room is a very open space, with a U-shaped bench that can accommodate six extra beds. The dining area features a table for eight. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped. All in all, a comfortable family home, very open and warm.
