Manta ray
Manta rays are fascinating marine creatures belonging to the Myliobatidae family. They are known for their large size, majestic appearance and graceful behavior.
Manta rays are among the largest rays in the world. They are characterized by their flat, wide body, which resembles a giant wing. Their wingspan, i.e. the distance between the tips of their pectoral fins, can reach up to 7 or 8 meters. Their bodies are generally dark on top and lighter underneath.
Manta rays are known for their elegant, soothing movements in the water. They can jump out of the water, twirl and swim close to the surface to feed. Despite their imposing size, manta rays are generally harmless to humans and are often curious about divers and underwater observers.
Swimming with them will probably be one of the best activities you can do on Tikehau.
